My time as an electrical engineer
Precise Circuits, now acquired by Daburn Electronics, specializes in custom electronic design and manufacturing. During my time there, I was involved in the end-to-end design of an in-house tool, aimed at reducing project turnaround time by streamlining key processes.
Sudden client expansion
One of our clients experienced rapid growth, expanding their machine inventory from 50 to over 1,000 units within three months. This significantly increased their demand for a critical component we custom manufacture for them.
To meet this demand, we needed to significantly boost both production volume and speed. However, our existing process for building this component was outdated and required much-needed updates to improve efficiency. A major bottleneck was the testing of magnetic diodes, which relied on an outdated compass-based system and involved slow, individual testing.
PROCESS _
Automating a key process
Our solution involved designing and building a device that could instantly determine the north values of 10 magnetic diodes simultaneously through a single switch activation. This approach eliminated the time-consuming process of manually aligning each diode with a compass.
OUTCOME _
Following successful implementation, this product dramatically improved efficiency, reducing testing time from 10 hours a day to just 2 hours. This translated to a 500% efficiency increase and a 25% acceleration in project timelines through optimized resource allocation.
